A small committee has been formed and is currently planning for a Veterans celebration in November. Unlike the majority of the country, we are privileged to have a large concentration of military service members; active duty, retired, reservists, National Guard, and individuals who served a shorter time than full retirement. Whether the individual served in wartime or peacetime, is living or dead, this Veterans Day, the parish would like to take this opportunity to recognize all those who haven given so much for our country.

Currently, three events are planned.

1.       A special Mass on Veterans Day, Wednesday, 11 November.
2.       A group social on Saturday, 14 November.
3.       Presentations by selected Veterans to Middle School students at St. John’s.

Additionally, we would like to see if there is any interest in forming a parish veterans group, which would meet periodically and perhaps take on a small project for the parish, such as a prayer or memorial garden or a covered walkway for the bell tower.
