Pre-Kindergarten
Welcome and thank you for considering our Pre-Kindergarten program for your child. With our dedicated teachers and staff we will make this a positive, loving and nurturing experience for our children and families. Following is some general information and goals in regards to our program. Please contact us at any time for more information if necessary.
- We offer a half or full day program ( 7:45-11:45 ) or ( 7:45-2:45)
- In addition to the core curriculum, Pre-Kindergarten also participates in Foreign Language, Technology, Art, Music and Physical Education.
- All students wear the school uniform(see details inthe SJA handbook, posted on our web-site)
- Our students attend Mass every Friday ( starting in October-parents are always welcome)
- A snack is provided daily. Please notify teachers immediately if your child has any known allergies.
- For an additional cost, lunch may be purchased.
- Before and after school care is available, please call for pricing and information.
Samplings of some of our goals for Pre-Kindergarten in Language Arts are the following:
· Continue to develop fine motor skills
· Identify upper/lower case letters
· Recognizes and differentiate beginning sounds
· Recognizes letters of the alphabet in name
· Recites rhyming words
· Recognizes that words have beginning sounds
· Repeats and recites material such as prayers, pledge, days of the week, months of the year, seasons, songs and simple verses
· Communicates with courtesy
· Retells a story
· Answers questions, retells stories and draws conclusions
· Identifies the parts of the picture story (beginning, middle, end) as a sequence
· Uses picture clues and captions as an aid to comprehension
Some of our goals in Math will be:
· Classify and sort
· Count by rote to 20
· Match numerals to objects 1-10
· Match objects to numerals 1-10
· Compare equal, greater than, and less than
· Make a simple bar graph
· Record patterns
· Recognize sequence of objects
· Identify, create, copy and extend simple patterns using manipulative
· Sort, classify, match data and compare
Some of our goals for Religion will be:
· Use the Sign of the Cross and Grace before and after meals
· Recite Our Father/Hail Mary
· Display common courtesies (such as please and thank you) to fellow classmates
Pre-Kindergarten Uniform: All uniforms must be purchased through Rose Uniform-www.roseuniforms.com
P. E. Uniform for boys and girls is the SJA t-shirt, maroon shorts, white ankle socks and tennis shoes. Children come to school in their P.E. clothes on their designated days and may wear gray, or the SJA sweats over their shorts.
Monday-Friday (except PE days) Uniform:
Boys:
· Gray Pants or Shorts
· Gray, maroon or white long/short sleeve polo w/SJA logo
· Gray or black ankle socks, black shoes(may be solid black sneakers-no color stripes or designs)
· Maroon cardigan, fleece pullover, SJA sweatshirt or maroon V-neck sweater w/SJA logo
Girls:
· Plaid jumper, gray shorts, gray pants, or gray skort (no more than 1” above the knee)
· Gray, maroon or white long/short sleeve polo w/SJA logo,
· White peter pan collared blouse or white mock turtleneck
· Maroon, gray knee socks. Maroon, gray or black ankle socks. Gray or maroon tights.
· Black shoes (may be solid black sneakers-no color stripes or designs)
· Maroon cardigan, fleece pullover, maroon SJA sweatshirt
· Maroon v-neck sweater w/SJA logo.
Boys Dress Uniform (All Fridays & special occasions)
