Kindergarten
 
Welcome and thank you for considering our Kindergarten program for your child. With our dedicated teachers and staff we will make this a positive, loving and nurturing experience for our students and families. The following is some general information and goals in regard to our program.
 
  • We offer a full day Kindergarten (7:45am-2:45pm) program.
  • In addition to the core curriculum, Kindergarten also attends the following classes: Foreign Language, Technology, Art, Music and Physical Education.
  • All students wear the school uniform (see details in the SJA handbook, posted on our web-site).
  • Our students attend Mass every Friday. Families are always welcome to attend with us.
  • For an additional cost, lunch may be purchased.
  • Before and after school care is available, please call for pricing and information.

 Some of our goals in Language Arts will be:
  • Answers questions and expresses self in complete sentences
  • Constructs upper & lower case letters
  • Copy words and simple sentences
  • Determines left-right progression of the printed word & word boundaries
  • Discriminates letter/sound correspondence
  • Identifies consonants & vowels
  • Begins to blend vowel sounds with consonants to read
  • Relates events in sequence: beginning, middle, end
  • Determines cause and effect relationships
  • Develops problem-solving techniques
 
 
Some of our goals in Religion will be:
  • Show God’s love for all people
  • Recognize that all people are made in the image of God
  • Recognize that all people are part of God’s family and loved by God
  • Recognize that everyone is a member of a family
  • Pray formally or spontaneously as an integral part of the day
  • Recite the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be
  • Recognize that our actions affect others and develop an awareness of the difference between right/wrong
 
 
Some of our goals in Mathematics will be:
  • Sequence of objects
  • Collect, organize, and interpret data using concrete objects
  • Identify time sequence (first, next, last)
  • Tell time to hour and half hour
  • Determine value of pennies, nickels, dimes up to 10 cents
  • Recognize three-dimensional figures such as sphere, cube, cylinder & cone
  • Recognize two and three dimensional figures as objects in the real world
 
 
Some of our goals in Social Studies will be:
  • Recognize how family, community and school experiences affect individuals
  • Distinguish between land and water on a map or globe
  • Recognize the relevance of money and saving
  • Recite Pledge of Allegiance and sing patriotic songs
  • Recognize and celebrate specific national and religious holidays
  • Explore the diversity of cultures and their impact
 
  
Some of our goals in Science will be:
  • Identify landform such as hills, mountains, and valleys
  • Recognize sun, moon, and stars as part of the solar system
  • Identify the five senses and how they relate to the parts of the body
  • Recognize plants as living things
